Nintendo of America’s President Doug Bowser Condemns Activision Blizzard in New Internal Response

Pressure continues to build against Activision Blizzard. Following last week's reports that CEO Bobby Kotick allegedly covered up allegations of harassment and sexual violence, he's faced widespread calls to resign and now, Nintendo also criticised the publisher.

As reported by Fanbyte, Nintendo of America's President Doug Bowser sent out an internal email on November 19th to "all levels" of that branch, including development teams at Retro Studios and Next Level Games. That follows on from previous interventions by PlayStation boss Jim Ryan, alongside Head of Xbox Phil Spencer.

Advising he found the reports "distressing and disturbing," Bowser told employees:

Along with all of you, I’ve been following the latest developments with Activision Blizzard and the ongoing reports of sexual harassment and toxicity at the company. I find these accounts distressing and disturbing. They run counter to my values as well as Nintendo’s beliefs, values and policies. Every company in the industry must create an environment where everyone is respected and treated as equals, and where all understand the consequences of not doing so.

Since publication, Nintendo's PR has confirmed the legitimacy of that email to Fanbyte, stating "we can confirm the content of Doug Bowser’s internal email to Nintendo of America staff is accurate." However, they advised there was "nothing further to share" regarding it. We'll keep you informed with further developments as they occur.
