Ninja has been in the streaming game for a relatively long time, with only a couple of short breaks having punctuated his relentless grind since the days of Halo 3 and H1Z1.
During this historic run, the blue-haired one has racked up plenty of highlights, from countless incredible Fortnite performances, to appearing on Jimmy Fallon’s Tonight Show and even streaming with Drake, Travis Scott and JuJu Smith-Schuster.
That said, one moment from 2012, which the streamer is currently threatening to recreate, may stand head and shoulders above the rest when it comes to capturing the zeitgeist of a particular stage of internet culture.
Are you anxious to see 2012 Ninja return in 2022?
After announcing an upcoming collab with Dr Disrespect and outlining his support for Twitch’s new gambling policy, Ninja has taken some time to commemorate the ten year anniversary of a selfie he posted way back in 2012.
In addition to appreciating his rather retro haircut and troll face t-shirt, the streamer made a bit of a promise, replying to his tweet to declare: “50K likes and I’ll recreate it.”
As you might have expected, the tweet quickly surpassed this modest goal and currently sits at around 133k likes, giving Ninja all of the ammunition he needs to indulge his desire to briefly return to the fashion styles of an internet era that Facebook still seems to be permanently stuck in today.
If the likes weren’t enough evidence, the streamer’s fans clearly outlined their desire for him to do just that in the replies to the tweet, with many asking whether he still owns the troll face t-shirt, and one user declaring: “this image changed my life, after this I never stopped trolling.”
So, now the wait begins to see whether Ninja will cave to the public pressure and re-create the selfie.
In the meantime, regardless of whether you’ve been able to stop trolling at any point in the past decade, make sure to follow us for more updates on both Fortnite and popular streamers like Ninja and Dr Disrespect.
