NetherRealm Studios Could Be Developing WarnerBros. Fighting Game

Update (10/27) -YouTuber HungryBox found a screenshot of the game's playable roster, including Gandalf and others. The NetherRealm game is reportedly called Warner Multiverse.

Original Story:

The NetherRealm fighting game could be a Warner Bros.-inspired mashup featuring characters from multiple franchises, if new rumors from leakers are to be believed. The upcoming fighting game will be similar to Super Smash Bros. and will pull characters under Warner Bros., including The Lord of the Rings and more.

NetherRealm Fighting Game Leaks

According to hugeleakeractually's thread, the gameplay would be similar to Nintendo's Super Smash Bros. series and the more recent Nickelodeon All-Star Brawl, where players would pick their favorite characters and knock off their foes off the stage. Here are some characters that are said to be included in its initial roster:

  • Shaggy Rogers from Scooby Doo
  • Gandalf from Lord of The Rings
  • Batman
  • Tom & Jerry
  • Fred Flintstone from The Flintstones
  • Mad Max
  • Harry Potter
  • Ron Weasley
  • Johnny Bravo

The leaker noted that the idea to make the game was to cash in on the traction of Shaggy's appearance in the intro of Mortal Kombat: Battle of the Realms movie. Shaggy can be seen using Mortal Kombat's Scorpion trademark line "Get Over Here" and pulls him to his apparent doom. After this, Shaggy is seen glowing wit a green power in a hellish landscape with his trusty pal Scooby Doo at his side.

Lastly, Warner Bros. currently holds a trademark for "Multiversus." Potentially, this could be the title of this upcoming fighter.

However, Warner Bros. has yet to confirm if the NetherRealm fighting game is real, and NetherRealm itself is, naturally, remaining silent. Other than this potential "Warner Bros. Smash clone," fans have been expecting NetherRealm Studios to be working on the sequels of their usual titles such as Mortal Kombat 12 and Injustice 3.
