The Call of Duty franchise contains some of the most iconic characters in all of gaming. Whether it’s the charismatic Captain Price or Alex Mason attempting to determine the meaning behind the numbers, titles including Modern Warfare 2 have some incredible protagonists.
With Season Three on the horizon, the trend of AI influencing all areas of society shows no signs of slowing down. Fans of the Modern Warfare series have already utilised AI to create some new multiplayer maps and now, they’re turning their attention to the roster of Operators.
One creative member of the community has utilised two pieces of AI software to create a fresh batch of characters that wouldn’t look out of place running around Shipment.
AI-created Modern Warfare 2 Operators
To demonstrate the impressive potential of AI when used in creating characters, Reddit user PizzaLater revealed ten Operators complete with a backstory and aesthetic perfect for slotting in amongst more familiar names.
Other fans were quick to offer their seal of approval on the awesome creations. “These are so cool!” exclaims one commenter. “I looked at the first slide with the Korean Operator and I got excited till I read the title,” suggesting that fans would be more than happy to spend some CoD points on Operators that don’t feature in the campaign.
Although the demand for the new Operators to arrive is high, the AI creations won’t be appearing anytime soon. For Season Three, Alejandro and Valeria from the single-player story are the latest Operators making their way to multiplayer and Warzone 2.

The ten AI-created Operators do leave plenty of food for thought. Why isn’t Infinity Ward creating some new characters and continuing to utilise nostalgia? Sooner or later, the trips down memory lane won’t have the same effect.
