Microsoft’s Xbox Series X will launch in November

The Xbox Series X will launch in November 2020 without the next entry in its flagship franchise, Halo Infinite. But between the usual holiday releases and Game Pass, there’s still plenty to look forward to when the next generation of consoles lands later this year.

“We have plenty to keep you busy until Chief arrives,” Microsoft said in a blog post on Tuesday. “There will be thousands of games to play, spanning four generations, when Xbox Series X launches globally this November, and over 100 ‘optimized for Xbox Series X’ titles — built to take full advantage of our most powerful console — are planned for this year.”

Games planned for a 2020 release on the Series X include Assassin’s Creed Valhalla, Dirt 5, Gears Tactics, Yakuza: Like a Dragon, and Watch Dogs: Legion. “With Smart Delivery,” Microsoft says, “you only have to buy these games once to play the best versions for your console, across generations.”

Titles being added to Game Pass later this year include The Medium, Scorn, and Tetris Effect: Connected. Destiny 2, Gears 5, and other Xbox One titles will also be getting Series X updates when the new hardware launches in November.
