Masahiro Sakurai Tells Gamers to ‘Forget’ About Him

It’s fair to say that Masahiro Sakurai is officially a legend in the gaming industry, with games like Kirby’s Adventure, Kid Icarus: Uprising, and Super Smash Bros. Ultimate in his resume, so even attempting to top that killer resume would be impossible, which is probably why Sakurai wants us to forget about him for a while.

Sakurai is clearly one of those developers who devotes all of his energy into making his video games as good as they can be, which is why the move-set for each character in Super Smash Bros. Ultimate was so detailed, so whether he’s working on a new project or simply taking a break, it looks like he doesn’t want to be a talking point for now.

Masahiro Sakurai Tells Gamers to ‘Forget’ About Him

During an interview with 4Gamer, with translation on the Tweet below, Sakurai stated that “doing anything else is going to take some time, so it’s probably best to forget about me for a while,” which is intriguing.

Considering how hard he works, it could take years for the next Sakurai game to come out and that wouldn’t be the worst thing to happen when you look back at his body of games, but we would personally love to see the man rest and enjoy his time away from the spotlight.

The fact that he managed to gain such a huge roster of playable characters in Super Smash Bros. Ultimate is a testament to Sakurai’s hard work, since there was plenty of input from the companies that the characters belonged to, like Sora from Kingdom Hearts.

Super Smash Bros. Ultimate is now available on Nintendo Switch with Fighters Pass 1 and 2 also available for purchase so players can have the full roster.
