Limited Run Games Are Looking To Port Licenced Emulators To Current Consoles

Job listings can reveal much about a company's latest intentions. We saw it recently with Sony Santa Monica, who's currently hiring for a game set in a "Fantasy-Based World". Best known for publishing physical copies of niche games, Limited Run Games seem to be working on an interesting new project too.

Putting out a job listing earlier today, they're looking to hire a software engineer "to assist with various in-house development projects". Quite notably, this states they'll work on porting "existing licensed emulators to the Nintendo Switch, PS5 and Xbox Series X|S".

Limited Run Games Are Looking To Port Licenced Emulators To Current Consoles

Within the qualifications and requirements section, this job listing details the applicant's need for a "strong understanding of emulation concepts for 8-, 16- and 32-bit console-based emulators such as Super Nintendo, Sega Genesis and Sony PlayStation".

That's quite a wide scope, one which could potentially cover notable consoles like the Sega Master System, NES, and Sega Saturn, too. If we had to guess, it sounds like Limited Run Games are preparing something beyond just a few individual releases.

It certainly sounds promising and if you're a retro gaming fan, this could become an excellent way of bringing classic experiences to new consoles. For now though, all we can do is wait.
