Left 4 Dead 2 is getting new content - eleven years after it first launched.

It's called "The Last Stand", a community-built expansion in collaboration with Value. the best part is that it now has an official release date.

A new trailer for the game has also been released and can be seen below.

"It is official, this is the new content Left 4 Dead 2 will be receiving - but this is still not all! There will also be 30 new achievements, 2 brand new mutations, and a plethora of bug and exploit fixes as well!" the video description explained to fans.

"This update is a collaborative effort of 30+ community members working together with Valve over the course of 11 months to create new content for this beloved game, which will be available to all PC players as free DLC."

'Left 4 Dead 2 - The Last Stand Update' is coming to PC on September 24th.

A past blog post also offered a narrative setup for the new content.

Left 4 Dead 2 Is Getting A New Expansion

"It has been many years since the infection first hit. Radio silence, no sign of life, nothing but lingering hopes... CEDA is not going to save us. But there is hope! A few brave souls have continued the fight against all odds, and soon we can all benefit from their resilience."

You can also check out the expansions spooky, woodland-based teaser trailer, just below.

We have to wonder if the game will use existing enemies, or if there'll be something even scarier to bump into on our way to the lighthouse.
