Hitman Developers IO Interactive Are Reportedly Working On A Fantasy Game For Xbox

IO Interactive might've finished with the Hitman series (for now) after January's Hitman 3 ended the World of Assassination trilogy, but they're working on some interesting new projects. While Project 007 was previously confirmed, rumours suggest IO are moving onto something drastically different.

Speaking in a recent rumour video, Windows Central reported that IO Interactive are working on a new project with Microsoft, advising this will be a new fantasy IP on Xbox, said to be set within a medieval world. These reports have also been backed up by Eurogamer.

Hitman Developers IO Interactive Are Reportedly Working On A Fantasy Game For Xbox

Believed to be in the early development stages, we likely won't see this for a few years, but rather than acquire IO Interactive directly, Microsoft are allegedly planning several projects that involve working with external developers. Those games would then be published under the Xbox Game Studios banner.

IO Interactive recently opened up a new Barcelona studio, and they've got a third IP in development. Talking during the GI Live: Online keynote speech, IO boss Hakan Abrak also outlined a new project: "Without going into too much detail, we have a third universe that we're working actively on, which is a bit different and absolutely a love child. It is something our core people, our veteran staff, have been dreaming about for some time."

Certainly, a fantasy IP could fit the bill, but we're likely a long way off from a formal reveal.
