That's not to say Microsoft is about to snap the developer up, of course, but with constant rumours about Xbox publishing, it could be that the two are teaming up for something – especially with IO Interactive working on a new IP.

IO recently opened a new Barcelona studio to assist with Project 007's development, and the company's CEO, Hakan Abrak, discussed more franchises in the incubation stage in an interview with Games Industry.

"But besides that, we have created four IPs from scratch. We always have incubation and R&D going on. Without going into too much detail, we have a third universe that we're working actively on, which is a bit different and absolutely a love child. It is something our core people, our veteran staff, have been dreaming about for some time."
