While we've taken this to mean he's working on his next game, that's not necessarily guaranteed.

Earlier this year, he noted that he wanted to work on multiple projects across different types of media, including manga, anime, and different types of games including digital-only and episodic titles.

Kojima created the Metal Gear franchise while working at Konami, but following an acrimonious split, Kojima Productions became an independent studio.

Its first game following the parting from the publisher was 2019's Death Stranding, a PlayStation 4 and PC exclusive.

While there's every chance his next title could be a follow-up to the divisive adventure, Kojima has expressed an interest in making "the scariest horror game".

He and his team were previously working on a Silent Hill reboot dubbed "Silent Hills" in conjunction with filmmaker Guillermo Del Toro before the project was cancelled.
