While some GTA players are already looking forward to GTA 6, others are still trying to make the most of their remaining time in Los Santos.

After all, if you don’t enjoy trying to predict what the next game’s map will look like, lack any hot takes regarding what it should include, and have given up on planning out your first playthrough, why not just try to appreciate the final stretch of GTA Online?

While some players have been doing so by hosting demolition derbies, cosplaying as LA Noire characters, or campaigning to be able to pick their fellow criminals up as taxi fares, others have been debating what might become of their characters if their next trip to Cayo Perico goes wrong.

Have you ever wondered what might go down if one of your GTA Online heists went wrong?

Their stickup-based suspicion forms the subject of a recent thread on the GTA Online subreddit, which began with a post from user EbbTop7131, who kicked this off by asking: “What would happen to our characters if (they were) captured alive by Mr Rubio?”

They paired the question with a picture of the drug lord’s pet panther, possibly providing an answer as to their own view on how the hypothetical scenario might end.

Some of their fellow players provided some alternative ideas that didn’t see the GTA Online protagonist become cat food, but did still involve their demise, with user Makofly musing: “Realistically, some pretty ugly downright evil (stuff). Canonically, maybe (we get) shot and thrown out of his helicopter, then he uses his gun to skeet shoot our bodies as they fall.”

Others held out hope that the ensnaring wouldn’t have fatal consequences for their character, with user Dark_Nation88 suggesting: “If canonically we have (done) all (of the) heists then we are also powerful people with connections. We have the IAA on our side, the Madrazo cartel, a rich bank robber, LSD hooligans, perhaps Trevor and maybe the triads,” and One-Mycologist-6001 ominously declaring: “(El Rubio) would find (out) in very short order that capturing me alive…was a very bad idea.”

Meanwhile, user Famous_Pen_939 lived up their name by crafting a detailed narrative based on the scenario, saying: “Pavel would start day drinking, then attempt to break us out. That would end with the Kostatka beached and a hole in the side (of it). Now both of (us are) imprisoned. Pavel (will) try to eat a rat. He (will) trip out for (two) days and die from a heart attack. You get Lumbago.”
