Forza Horizon 3 Being Delisted From Digital Storefronts

Forza Motorsport 3 will no longer be on sale after September 27, Microsoft has confirmed.

The 2016 open-world racing title will be delisted from digital storefronts, making its physical version the only option for fans wishing to explore Australia in some of the world's most desirable cars.

Forza Horizon 3 Being Removed From Sale

While Microsoft hasn't explicitly stated the reason for the delisting, it's likely a licensing decision to do with the game's collection of cars and music tracks.

Those that have already purchased the game, digitally or physically, will find the servers intact for the foreseeable future.

If you are looking to buy Forza Horizon 3, you'll be able to find it discounted until its delisting. It's still worth picking up, too, particularly if you own the Xbox One X, although it's also available on PC, too.

Unlike Forza Horizon 4, the game's Ultimate Edition doesn't include the expansion pass. While Blizzard Mountain is great, the real reason to pick this up is the Hot Wheels expansion, which is some of the most fun we've had with a racing game in years.

Thankfully, Forza Horizon 4 is also excellent and is available on Game Pass.

With delisting games after licensing agreements expire a common practice (and not just in the Forza franchise), the topic of game preservation is likely to come back into focus.

With PS5 offering a disc-less model and Xbox Series S expected to fill that role for Microsoft, it's worth remembering that digital games simply won't be around forever.
