The exploits of the connoisseurs of frustration that roam the plains of Elden Ring can sometimes make for terrifyingly difficult viewing if you’re not a massive fan of seeing the words ‘You died’ emblazoned across the screen.

Then again, things can become more palatable if you inject some levity via the discovery of some humorous messages and tips etched into the landscape or the challenge of watching someone try to best Malenia with one hand.

That said, the game’s player base seems pretty enthusiastic about the idea of watching a film based on the game, having decided to compile an ideal cast list for such an adaptation featuring some of Hollywood's elite.

Who would you want to see portraying your favourite bosses in an Elden Ring film?

The thread in question on the subreddit r/eldenring began with a post from user rosadoje, who nominated actor Anthony Carrigan, famous for playing Victor Zsasz in Gotham and NoHo Hank in HBO series Barry for the role of Patches, before asking: “Which other actors would you cast?”

Their fellow Elden ringers were quick to throw in a barrage of suggestions, one of which invoked the name of Sean Bean, the voice of Oblivion’s Martin Septim, whom user FinaglingFink argued would be ideal to play The Tarnished due to his experience of playing characters who die.

Other suggestions had slightly less clear logic behind them, with user TheClayCoCannaisseur nominating Samuel L Jackson to portray a very sweary Gideon of Ofnir and BobBopPerano simply declaring: “I think every character should be played by Eddie Murphy.”

A number of short, but funny actors also got shout-outs, with user ClamSlamwhich proposing: “Jack Black as Maliketh”, while He_Sleep and DoucheyCohost got into a bit of a debate, with the former saying: “Danny de Vito as Godfrey, of course” and the latter joking: “Danny as every (second generation) Albinauric.”

Meanwhile, a couple more actors who’ve previously done video game-related things were mentioned, with user baremetalAK offering Cyberpunk 2077’s Keanu Reeves for the role of Bloody Finger Hunter Yura and Atharaphelun raising a few eyebrows by recommending The Witcher’s Henry Cavill to play Radagon of the Golden Order.

Regardless of whether you want to see Sean Bean fight a legion of Danny Devitos before facing up to Jack Black, make sure to follow us for coverage of some amazing Elden Ring and Skyrim mods.
