It feels like a lifetime ago that Cyberpunk 2077 was confirmed to be in development, but finally we are just a few months away from returning to the iconic Night City.
The dystopian RPG is CD Projekt Red’s latest venture, and it focuses on dynamic decision-making and unique quests amongst other things.
Recent gameplay trailers have revealed some of the new features coming with Mike Pondsmith’s M-rated game, and we are beyond excited to see it launch on April 16th 2020.

Until E3 2019 we had very little idea that character creation would be a feature in the game, but the studio’s quest director Mateusz Tomaszkiewicz shed some light on the upcoming feature with Gamasutra, explaining that character creation won’t be limited by gender.
“One of the things we want to do in the final game is to give players as many options of customisation in the beginning of the game as we can.”
For example, the ‘Cool’ stat will determine how well you handle stress and impact a multitude of abilities, including weapon accuracy.
Also, players will be able to choose V’s backstory, with each type having an origin story, unique dialogue options and place of birth.
You’ll have to make your choice early on, so decide whether you want to be a Nomad, Corpo or Street Kid.
The demo showed us that players can change pretty much anything about their character’s appearance. This includes hair, tattoos, clothes, ethnicity, voice, strength, intelligence, reflexes and even technology.
The morality system in the upcoming game will be completely up to the player.
This means that players can progress through the story without killing a single person - an idea that will please the more squeamish fans.
Adding to this notion, the studio confirmed at E3 2018 that most of the weapons will have non-lethal options, with the exception of single-purpose weapons like the bazooka.
When Quest Director Mateusz Tomaszkiewicz was asked by GamingBolt on the topic of morality mechanics, he answered:
“To complete it non-lethally you have to be very good at stealth.”
Players would therefore be wise to invest in points that add to V’s stealth, and use weapons that allow them to incapacitate an enemy, rather than kill them.
Similar mechanics were used in The Witcher 3, where moral choices were left in the hands of the player.
Multiplayer has been teased as a possibility from as far back as 2013, but it’s looking like a Multiplayer mode will be introduced once all of the initial free DLC is out the way.
In an interview between Eurogamer and CDPR’s Managing Director Adam Badowski, he explained:
“It will be a story-based RPG experience with amazing single-player playthroughs, but we’re going to add multiplayer features”
This reassured fans that they will still be getting an engaging single-player story, and appeased those who want to explore Night City with a friend.
