Bandai Namco Confirm New Ace Combat Game Has Entered Development

A new Ace Combat game has entered joint production. Marking the first new entry since 2019's Ace Combat 7: Skies Unknown, Bandai Namco's combat flight simulator series is back in action.

Announced during the Ace Combat 25th anniversary retrospective program, Bandai Namco confirmed they're working with ILCA, best known for the upcoming Pokémon Brilliant Diamond and Shining Pearl remakes. More fittingly, ILCA previously assisted Skies Unknown's development for cinematics and environment production.

Bandai Namco Confirm New Ace Combat Game Has Entered Development

Explaining why ILCA's involved in this upcoming entry, Ace Combat series producer Kazutoki Kono advised:

Project Aces staff will of course continue to be involved in the development of this new project, but as we celebrate 25 years and 3m copies sold, we've come to understand we have many fans of all tastes. Our small team can't handle it all alone, so we're looking to expand the Ace Combat team in a big way.
That's why we want to form a business alliance with ILCA, who will become more deeply involved in the Ace Combat series than ever before, and create a new Ace Combat. We hope this opportunity will allow us to add even more staff to the Project Aces team.

At this time, we've not got any specifics to go on for this upcoming title. There's no release window, confirmed platforms or a name for this new entry, suggesting it's very early in development.
