Forza Horizon 5: Best Drag Cars

There are at least 30 or so cars that can be tuned to be great at Drag races. We've focused on three of them, choosing each one based on tests that we've run at Pro level difficulty. These are great cars to start with, as they will show you what attributes thrive in Drag Races. These three cars are as follows:

  • Hoonicorn V2 1965 Mustang
  • Koenigsegg Jesko 2020
  • Rimac Concept Two

Even at their stock levels, all three of these cars will win you Drag Races at Pro level and below. You won't necessarily need to tweak them at all. Just focus on your starts, and keep that finger on the accelerator. Let's go into a bit more detail on each.

Our first pick for the best Drag Car to use in Forza Horizon 5 is the Koenigsegg Jesko 2020. It's arguably the fastest car in the game, with an incredible acceleration and top speed. You may need to take a look at the Launch rating, as this car has a tendency to slip slightly at the start. Regardless, it tends to catch up and overtake after a couple of seconds anyway, reaching speeds that your opponents simply won't be able to match.

The easiest way to get this car is to buy it from the Autoshow. You can also get it for free by completing all V10 events in the Baja Cross country mission that's found in amongst the main festival expeditions. You'll need to get three stars on every part of the V10 mission to claim the Koenigsegg Jesko 2020 as a reward.

Hoonicorn V2

The Hoonigan Gymkhana 10 Ford 'HOONICORN' Mustang feels more like driving a rocket than a car. It has ridiculous acceleration and a great top speed. This one is much harder to handle, but as long as you can keep it straight at the beginning of a Drag Race you will easily speed past opponents and take the win.

The best way to get this car is to check Seasonal Challenges. It is included in the Summer Season 1 Festival Playlist, rewarded for completing the 'It's Rainin' Sideways' set of races.

Rimac Concept Two

Finally we have the Rimac Concept Two. This is a fully electric hypercar that has a top speed of 288 mph. Alongside this immense top speed is a solid handling stat and great acceleration. As it only has three gear modes (Reverse, Low and High), Drag Races are a lot easier to take on. Try this car out for simple, fast performance over short distances.

You can purchase this car from the Autoshow for 2,000,000 CR. It's also possible to get it as a Wheelspin and Super Wheelspin reward.

Drag Race Tuning Tips

You can get a feel for what the important aspects of car tuning are when it comes to Drag Racing by playing some races with the stock versions of the three cars mentioned in this article. Even at stock, these cars will get most players through all Drag Races on the map, at low to mid difficulties. If you want to get a bit more competitive, try out these tips.

  • When tuning for Drag Races, focus on Acceleration, Top Speed and Launch
  • Equip wide Drag Tyres to RWD vehicles
  • Increase the Tyre Pressure of the front wheels to 30-35
  • Rally Suspension is a good bet
  • Race Clutch will also help here
  • Browse the Custom Tunings for each car to see what other players have done. You can then apply these to the car for a fee. Look for Drag Racing setups like the one in the image below

Launch tips

Launching your car properly at the start of a race will often make the difference between winning and losing. Hold the E-Brake at the start and gently hold the throttle until you sit around a third of the way around the accelerometer. On go, release the E-Brake and hammer on the gas, making smooth transitions up to higher gears as you go. Try not to overdo the starting power, as cars like the Hoonicorn V2 will just slide around off of the starting line.
