Fortnite has a history of adding broken weapons. From the Infinity Blade to the Rail Gun, a lot of weapons in Fortnite have been dubbed as broken primarily because of the fact that they're extremely overpowered.
However, in a strange twist of fate, a brand new weapon has been dubbed as broken by the community for the wrong reasons.
Why is the Sideways Scythe in Fortnite Season 8 a broken weapon?
Truth be told, the Sideways Scythe in Fortnite Season 8 has the potential to become a tremendously powerful weapon. If you eliminate someone with the scythe, it will heal you.
Not only that, you can move really quickly if you use the abilities that this weapon has to offer. Given that the Sideways Scythe is essentially a melee weapon, you will be limited to ground attacks only.
However, the smash attack that this weapon has to offer leads to very unfavorable outcomes. The smash attack is basically an attack which deals an area of effect damage.
Interestingly enough, this attack works wonders within the Sideways realm, where fall damage is nullified.
However, if you use this attack in a regular environment and you land at an area with a lower elevation, you will take fall damage. And if you're unlucky, you might eliminate yourself too.
This is something that Epic Games may not have accounted for while releasing the Sideways Scythe. On the flip side however, this weapon may have been designed in this way itself.
This design could have been in place in order to prevent players from using the overpowered smash attack to get a jump on their enemies.
Either way, this seems to be a problem for the community for now. So we'll have to wait and see if Epic Games does decide to fix this problem in the upcoming days.
Till then, use the Sideways Scythe with caution. And remember, with great power comes great responsibility.
