Fortnite saw a nice bunch of changes after the 17.10 update. Honestly, this update is way better than the whole of Season 6 combined.

It does set the tempo for the upcoming updates. From the looks of it, the upcoming updates will progress the storyline but what can we expect in the Fortnite 17.20 update.

Fortnite 17.20 update release date

According to Fortnite data miner XTigerHyperX, the developers were on a vacation and they've finally come back to work. The Fortnite 17.20 update will be delayed for another week. With that in mind, we could expect the update to roll out on July 20th.

While the downtime for the update isn't available yet, I'm assuming the servers will go offline at around 9 AM BST.

Potential content that may come to Fortnite

#1 Keep playing together button

Epic Games is apparently working on a button that says "keep playing together". If you use this button, then it will prevent the system from disbanding after a game.

While this button will see no use if you're in a party with your friends, it'll find its usage when you're playing squad, trios or duo fills.

#2 New skins

Data miner Hypex believes that we'll be receiving a new Summer Ripley Skin during this season. Since the Cosmic Summer Event ends in two weeks, there's a chance that the Summer Ripley Fortnite skin will go live in the next update itself.

There's also a backbling associated with the skin, and it closely resembles a...hermit crab?

#3 The Cowinator

The Cowinator was seen in the trailer in the hands of Rick Sanches. This closely resembles the pick-up ray that the UFOs use. It hasn't gone live yet, but there are some details that just went live.

You can't lift players, your own vehicles or other incompatible objects with it. And you'll probably be able to purchase it from NPCs for 600 gold. Rather expensive for a portable elevator I must say. If I wanted to toss things around, I'd rather have used the shockwave grenade!

Fun fact: This gun is being referred to as the Gravy Goblin for some reason. Hilarious, don't you think?

#4 Prop Gun

We'll probably be seeing this weapon in the game after the Fortnite 17.20 update. The prop gun can turn you into a prop. Very convenient right? But then again, there's a downside to it too.

Enemies will know of your location. Well, not your exact location but they'll have an idea that there's a looper disguised as a prop in the vicinity. I'm excited to see exactly what this weapon can do.

#5 Lobby Stages

I'm assuming summer in Fortnite will end with the event itself. So once it ends, we'll be seeing some interesting changes to the lobby in the game. Alien parasite eggs will be seen spreading all over the island. They'll slowly take over Holly Hedges and we'll start calling it Holly Hatchery instead of Holly Hedges.

#6 Bye Bye Coral Castle

There's been more confirmation that Coral Castle will be destroyed. Now that the mothership has begun moving around the island, I'm thinking that we'll bid goodbye to this place after the Fortnite 17.20 update. It may not happen, but I have a strong feeling it will.

Also, please remember, everything in this list is mere speculation for now. Epic Games hasn't explicitly said that we'll be seeing these changes in the game after the Fortnite 17.20 update. So do take them with a pinch of salt. And that brings us to.

Patch Notes Preview

It's too early to take a call on the patch notes for now. We'll update this piece once the update has gone live and the patch notes are out.
