Original Story Follows -

Fortnite servers appear to be experiencing issues this evening with players reporting in their droves of problems with Epic Games hit battle royale release.

More specifically it seems as though players are running into an error that reads: "You do not have permission to play Fortnite".

Weird, right? I mean who are they to say whether or not I can play Fortnite or not.

Long story short, it appears that this issue has impacted the game once before, back in 2018.

At the time GamesRadar reported that this issue might have been related to a "criss-cross mismatch between accounts".

However, why the game has suddenly gone off the deep end this evening for all players with the same error, is a mystery.

It's certainly not a small scale problem, with thousands of players online all reporting the same problem.

A quick check of the Epic Games Fortnite Status website shows that they know something is not quite right, with the site showing "degraded performance" for Game Services.

Equally, Fortnite Status on Twitter has also told it's growing legion of fans that they are looking into the problems as we speak, writing:

"We're investigating issues related to kicks and logins. We'll provide an update when these are resolved."

Hopefully, we're not looking at any extended downtime for the game. But stay tuned as we'll be sure to update the page as and when Epic Games provide a solution to this pesky problem.

Anyone for a game of Warzone in the meantime?
