Is The Battle Star Based Unlock System Counter-Productive In Fortnite?

Epic Games tweaked a lot of things in Fortnite Chapter 2 Season 7. They reworked the entire battle pass in the game.

Now you can unlock whichever cosmetic you want, thanks to the battle stars. You earn 5 battle stars each time you level up. You think you have a choice, but it's not that simple.

What is the problem with the unlock system in the Fortnite Chapter 2 Season 7 battle pass?

From the second page onwards, you will have to unlock every other cosmetic on the page before you can actually unlock the skin.

Although this promotes the idea of leveling up in Fortnite, you don't really have much of a choice with respect to the unlocks here. Skins are the most sought after commodity of the game. While I personally appreciate the choice based system a lot, what's the point if I can't unlock the skins as soon as possible.

Skins are the unique selling point for Fortnite. This system just made it difficult to acquire the skins. Epic Games probably did it thinking that this move would cause players to buy more levels.

And from the looks of it, some people will actually end up purchasing battle pass levels in Fortnite. This does sound misleading in my opinion. Most people in the community don't really care about the additional cosmetics like sprays and emoticons in the game.

I don't think Epic Games will probably fix this tiny issue with the Fortnite Chapter 2 Season 7 battle pass. But here's to hoping that they fix this in the upcoming season.

While that's one issue with the battle pass, it still features an original set of skins. Yes this season will have collaborations, but at least they aren't in the battle pass.
