Fortnite's New Alien Nanites: What They Do and How To Use Them

As of Fortnite's 17.10 update, Alien Nanites have been added to the game.

This new item has two different uses, depending on how players interact with it.

Deciding how to use it and when may make the difference between an early elimination and a Victory Royale.

Where to Find Alien Nanites

Alien Nanites can be found as ground loot or in chests, though they are rare.

They can also be found more regularly on top of Alien Abductors and inside the Alien Mothership.

The newly transformed Holly Hatchery seems to have a few as well usually.

As mentioned earlier, Alien Nanites can be used in two different ways.

First, players can throw them to create a temporary patch of Alien Biome, complete with low gravity.

In fact, if you manage to toss three of these, you'll end up completing a Fortnite Week 6 challenge. Just don't toss it at Holly Hatchery, it won't count towards the challenge.

They work similar to a Firefly Jar, bursting and changing the landscape for a short time.

Unlike fire, the Alien Biome does not spread over time.

It gets created, then disappears a short time after.

The second use Alien Nanites have is for crafting.

Players can take a purple or gold Assault Rifle, Sniper Rifle, SMG, or Pistol and create a Pulse Rifle, Rail Gun, Kymera Ray Gun, and Bad News Pistol.

Only one Alien Nanite cube is needed to craft a single weapon.

Being fairly scarce, players need to plan how to use their Alien Nanites if they have any.

Saving them for creating an Epic of Legendary Rail Gun is always a good idea.
