Batman/Fortnite: Zero Point Comic #1 Explained

Today is the official street date of Batman/Fortnite: Zero Point #1, the first comic in a 6-part series that finds Batman, Harley Quinn, and Catwoman on Apollo Island trying to figure out exactly what in the world is going on.

The story is Fortnite canon and will explain many of the island's mysteries, including the Zero Point.

Each issue also comes with a code redeemable in-game for an exclusive cosmetic item.

Issue #1 includes the Rebirth Harley Quinn skin, which will not be available in the Fortnite Item Shop until later this summer.

GORDON: He looks strangely calm through all of this.

The following contains spoilers for Batman/Fortnite: Zero Point #1. Stop reading now if you do not wish to know details of the story contained within the issue.

Issue #1 of DC Comic's Batman and Fortnite crossover is basically a twenty-page introduction to the series setting up the stage for the action that is to come.

There are no major lore revelations about Fortnite or any explanations about what is going on whatsoever.

The issue opens with Commissioner Gordon and Batman conversing about a giant rift that has opened in Gotham City.

Batman can not figure out what is causing it, and the readings he pulls from it are not of this universe.

As he gets close to the rift, Harley Quinn jumps in, apparently after others have already done so.

Before Batman can have a moment to think, he is hit from behind and blacks out as he is pulled through and dropped on Fortnite's Apollo Island.

What follows is an insane series of fight sequences as Batman realizes he can not speak, does not know who he is or where he is from, and somehow still has muscle memory from his years of training.

Basically, Batman has all his tools and skills at his disposal but does not know anything else.

As he continues to fight, he recognizes Catwoman, though he does not know who she is.

All he knows is they have a connection.

They fight well together.

Now he has to figure out what is going on.

ISSUE 1: Batman arrives on Apollo Island

Though no characters are specifically named yet, seeing as the first issue was just one mass battle, several Fortnite favorites show up as part of the mayhem.

The first character is Ruckus, who immediately attacks Batman when he arrives on the island.

Other characters to make an appearance are Midas, Ragnarok, Cuddle Team Leader, Tomatohead, Dark Bomber, CODENAME E.L.F, and many more.

The storm even plays a major part in the story, closing in on Batman and Catwoman as they try and fight their way to victory.

Is It Any Good?

Batman/Fortnite: Zero Point #1 does not have much in the way of the story yet, and is basically an issue of fanservice as readers get to watch Batman and Catwoman trash a bunch of Fortnite characters.

It is a good, albeit short, introduction that will hopefully lead the way to issues with more meat to them in the future.

The artwork is stellar, perfectly conveying the frantic action Fortnite is known for.

For Fortnite fans, the issue is well worth picking up, even if it is just for the Rebirth Harley Quinn skin, alone.
