A Final Fantasy X-3 Story Exists And Could Be Made Someday

Famed Final Fantasy character designer, Tetsuya Nomura sat down with Kazushige Nojima, the original Final Fantasy X scenario writer to discuss the future of the Japanese fable. With Final Fantasy X being a two-part game (X and X-2), Nomura suggested that a third instalment is certainly possible:

If we are to make X-3, we somehow have a synopsis written by Nojima-san....It's sleeping right now, but the plot itself does exist.

Nomura has already returned to previous entries in the series, having acted as the Creative Lead of the Final Fantasy VII Remake.

Nojima implies that at the moment developing the third episode is not a priority:

I had the opportunity to work with people who entered the game industry after playing FF7. But now that phase has moved and now I’m going with people who entered after playing FFX.

Final Fantasy X-3, if it is made, could be some way off yet, with the studio understandably focused on FF7 Remake Part 2.

The probability is not zero.....But we are not in a phase where we can talk about it, unless we have finished producing FF7 Remake.

Other Final Fantasy projects have also hit the headlines recently, with Final Fantasy XIV breaking its own player records.
