Square Enix Adds Fat Black Chocobo to FFXIV in New Event

Wondering how to get the Fat Black Chocobo in FFXIV?

Following the Butterfinger mount promotion earlier in 2021, Square Enix is launching a new initiative from now until August 24 involving select Twitch streamers and subscriptions.

Gifting one subscription gets you the Heavenscracker in-game item, a massive party cracker you can use to celebrate the impending Endswalker launch (among other things).

Gifting four subscriptions earns you the Fat Black Chocobo Whistle.

Using the whistle summons the Fat Black Chocobo, but as always, you can only obtain the items if you have a subscription.

Free Trial players cannot get the Fat Black Chocobo.

How to Get the Fat Black Chocobo

You’ll need to gift four subscriptions to qualifying streamers to earn the whistle.

How to Gift Subs on Twitch

Once you navigate to the streamer’s page you want to gift a subscription for, click the drop-down arrow next to “subscribe,” and choose “gift.”

There are several subscription tiers, but you can opt for the least expensive one of $4.99 to get the Chocobo cheaply.
