FIFA 22: EA Sports Announce Largest Ever eSports Programme


FIFA 22 has arrived, which spells months of Weekend League heartbreak for most of us.

But for those who play the game at a competitive level, it marks the beginning of nine months of hard slog to qualify for ranking events with the hope of being named the FIFA 22 eWorld Cup champion!

EA Sports have officially announced their esports programme for FIFA 22, which is bigger and better than ever before.

Here is everything that you need to know.

"Football Would Not Exist Without The Power Of Teamwork"

FIFA Competitive Gaming Commissioner Sam Turkbas has spoken of the importance of using the esports enterainment industry to connect fans:

"Football would not exist without the power of teamwork.

"Our objective is to harness that power and use esports entertainment to connect football fans around the world to the game they love. Team-based FIFA competitive gaming will be a growth catalyst for future football fandom.”

The FIFA esports ecosystem has been broken down into three key competitions, which are as follows:

FIFAe World Cup 2022 Start Dates

The quest for World Cup glory begins on November 27th, when qualification for the traditional 1v1 competition gets underway through the FIFA 22 Global Series.

Coinciding with the eWorld Cup grind will be the league-based esports competitions, with clubs from over 30 leagues offering FIFA's best the opportunity to represent their real-world organisations.

You can register to compete in the FIFA 22 qualification tournaments by visiting EA's website. Registration opens on October 4th.

FIFAe Club Series

For the first time in FIFA history, this years FIFAe Club Series will feature 2v2 FUT competition.

Beginning in November, teams of two will be able to compete in a range of competitions, including the brand new FUT Team of the Year and Team of the Season Cups.

FIFAe Nations Series

And let's not forget about the opportunity to represent your nation, as the FIFAe Nations Series returns in FIFA 22, where members associations will compete against one another in global 2v2 competition.

Each nation will begin their journey at the FIFAe Nations Online Qualifiers, with the top nations advancing to the Playoffs in the quest to qualify for the FIFA eNations Cup 2022.
