French Professional Football League Reveals eSports league for FIFA 17 - e-Ligue 1

In partnership with EA Sports, Dider Qullot, CEO of the French Professional Football League, has unveiled a French eSports league for FIFA 17, “e-Ligue 1”.

The virtual French football league, e-Ligue 1, is expected to be the first of many, with several European Championships rumoured to be announced at a later date. The tournament is scheduled to be split into two seasons, Winter and Spring, before leading into a playoffs for a wider European league, similar to the modern Champions League, followed by a world finals.

According to reports, the e-Ligue 1 will feature twenty professional Ligue 1 clubs, with each team sponsoring two players for Ultimate Team tournaments, one for Xbox One and one for PlayStation 4.

Yesterday, Paris Saint-Germain were the first Ligue 1 team to announce their new eSports division, featuring August "Agge" Rosenmeier, Lucas "DaXe" Cuillerier and Bora "YellowStar" Kim.
