Goalkeepers

While GKs are a pretty standard position to fill in FUT, with only a handful of attributes, there are still only a number of players that will truly fit the bill for an unreal early shot-stopper!

Early on in the Premier League, expect the likes of 80 Henderson and 82 Pope to be very capable English hands in between the sticks, with 83 Dubravka and 84 Patricio offering some higher-rated options for those Premier League teams.

Centre-Backs

In any team, the defence is key, and in FUT, that’s no different, with capable CBs being a difference maker in games.

Early on in the Premier League, there are some decent early CB options. Manchester United duo 79 Bailly and 80 Lindelöf, as well as newly transferred 79 Aké all provide well-rounded options with a solid pace, defending and physical attributes. It’s also worth keeping an eye on the non-rare pairing of 81 Sánchez and 81 Rüdiger, who both have the potential to be a little cheaper being non-rare items.

Full-Backs

Full-Backs are a majorly important position in modern football, and FUT shouldn’t be much different, with full-backs needing to be quick, defensively adept as well as useful on the attack.

In terms of lower-end options in the EPL, these 5 look to be the best options, offering much-needed pace at the start of the game.

On the right-hand side, 80 Bellerin, 77 James and 76 Yedlin all look to be usable options, with 78 Tierney and 77 Van Aanholt being the pick of the bunch.

Centre Midfielders

Your CMs and CDMs in FUT are the true workhorses of the team, so making sure you have strong players with stamina early on is key.

In the Prem, you’re spoilt for choice when it comes to solid CDM options. 84 Ndidi looks to be the standout option with his unreal 87 defending, however, expect 81 Souček and 78 Gbamin to also be very capable CDMs in a starting squad.

Moving more into box-to-box midfielders 81 Fred looks incredibly well rounded, with 79 Sissoko being one of the best early midfielders for a number of years now.

Centre Attacking Midfielders

The CAM role in FUT is predominantly a playmaking one, however, having agile players that can contribute with goals are great assets to an early squad.

Unfortunately, for early attacking midfield options, you are somewhat limited in the Premier League this season.

82 James is probably the pick of the bunch with outstanding card stats for dribbling, shooting and passing, however, is let down by only having 53 pace.

81 Maddison provides a well rounded attacking midfield option though, with 78 Almiron offerings sheer pace early on.

Right-Wingers

Wingers early on in FUT are key in breaking down starter defences with pace and power, so having some threats out wide are advised.

Luckily in the Premier League this year, right-sided attacking options are plentiful. Although they might be slightly more expensive options, the Arsenal duo of 82 Willian and 82 Pepe will be very good wingers at the start of the FUT.

If you’re looking for pure pace, 79 Adama, 77 James and 77 Minamino all offer that avenue for your starter squad.

Left Wingers

Wingers early on in FUT are key in breaking down starter defences with pace and power, so having some threats out wide are advised.

On the left, many will be shocked to discover that 81 Pulisic is in fact a non-rare this year. While this may not look as good in the team, his stats are still very good and should be cheaper than some of the other alternatives on this list.

81 Felipe Anderson, 80 Saint-Maximin and 80 Diogo Jota will all be on the upper end of the pricing spectrum for a starter squad but are all very promising on the attacking end.

79 Barnes will be the cheapest out of the selection and offers a decent, cheaper option for Premier League teams.

Strikers

Goals win games in football, it’s as simple as that, so having natural goalscorers leading the line in your team will be vital.

Finally, striking options are plentiful early on in this league, with a number of pacey options that have fine finishing ability.

With 83 Lacazette getting a big downgrade this year, there’s a chance that he’s relatively affordable early on.

81 Richarlison maybe around the 20k mark early on, but with 4* Skills and 5* Weak Foot, he’s a superb target for early teams.

Finishing off, 79 Calvert-Lewin, 78 Antonio and 77 King all offer pace, decent physical and good shooting early on, and are well work a look!
