What Is EA Play?
For those that aren’t familiar with how EA Access worked before being rebranded as EA Play, it’s an EA membership that allows users to try out brand new EA games before launch, including FIFA 21, play tons of top EA titles whenever they want (typically older games), as well as allowing members to save 10% on EA digital purchases, be it pre-orders or in-game transactions.
EA Play continues all of those features, with the extra addition of new in-game, exclusive rewards for members.
10 Hour FIFA 21 Trial
EA Play Members will be eligible for a 10 hour trial of the full release version of FIFA 21 around a week before the full release of the game, with many outlets rumouring this to be around October 1st.
A couple of things to note, are that you don’t need to have a pre-ordered the full edition of the game to play the 10-hour full-game trial, and any progress made in modes such as Career Mode, Volta, Pro Clubs and Ultimate Team will carry over to the full version when released.
Every year, for the first time logging into the new FUT on the console, if you have FIFA Points outstanding on the previous edition of the game, you have the one-time option to transfer those points onto the new game.
This is especially useful if you’ve previously purchased FIFA Points on the older edition of the game, perhaps in preparation for the new season, or have them leftover for whatever reason.
A few things to note:
- You can only transfer FIFA Points between games on the console. You can’t transfer FIFA Points between 20 and 21 via the web app or companion apps.
- You can only transfer between games on the same console. You can’t transfer FIFA Points from FIFA 20 on PS4 to FIFA 21 on Xbox etc.
- The transfer is one-way and irreversible. You can only transfer once from FIFA 20 to FIFA 21, you can’t transfer points from FIFA 21 to FIFA 20.
Given that FIFA Points can be rather costly, you’ll definitely want to look at getting some discounts through various means if you can, and there are a couple of ways you can do this!
Purchase Through EA Access
For those that purchase EA Access, you’ll not only receive a 10 hour period of early access to the full FIFA 21 game, but you’ll also have a 10% discount on all other transactions, including FIFA Point purchases, but also purchases of the full game!
PSN/Xbox Card Vouchers
There are plenty of ways in which you can get slightly discounted PSN/Xbox cards and vouchers online, so make sure to do your research and shop around!
The FUT 21 Web App is now live and released on Wednesday 30th September 2020 at 6pm BST.
The FUT 21 Web App can be accessed here.
TOTW 1 will be released in time for the Web Apps launch, so be sure to use your packs wisely!

FIFA 21 Rewards
A big new feature to EA Play in the rebrand is the ability for members to “unlock exclusive rewards and member-only content.”
While the exact FIFA 21 rewards aren’t entirely set in stone, members have been advertised rewards including:
- Start of Season XP Boosts
- Recurring FUT kits and stadium customisation item rewards throughout the season.
As the year rolls on though, expect further rewards such as coins and packs to be dropped for EA Play Members.
Full Access to Past EA Titles
EA Play members also get access to a collection of EA’s best-loved games.
While this won’t include the latest releases, unless you’re an EA Play Pro member (only available on PC), expect a number of fan favourite titles from Need For Speed, Battlefield, Star Wars and FIFA to be available.
10% Discount on Digital Purchases
EA Play also provides members with a 10% discount on digital purchases, be it through pre-order bonuses or FIFA Point discounts in FIFA 21.
For those that like to spend on FIFA Points, definitely consider joining EA Play, as the discount on FIFA Points alone will likely pay for the subscription itself after a few transactions.
Release Date: October 6th
Finally, the last “Early Access” opportunity you’ll be able to receive is through purchasing the Champions and Ultimate Editions. This will grant you full access to the game 3 days before the full standard edition global release on the 9th and is a great time to get a small headstart ahead of the competition on all modes across FIFA.
Tips For Early Release
As with any new FIFA, the key is to get acclimated to the new gameplay mechanics and nuances as early as possible, to give you the best chance at top finishes in FUT, as well as other modes.
This is the part where you just have to play, and play, and play some more, so have fun, enjoy that new FIFA feeling, and get grinding towards your goals, whether that be a FUT Road to Glory, Division 1 Pro Clubs, or that World Class Career Mode save.
EA posted a new set of pitch notes in the leadup to early access.
This is what they had to say regarding it:
