Tekken x Street Fighter Is Not Dead Yet

Yesterday, reports began circulating about the cancellation of the highly anticipated Tekken x Street Fighter game that had been in development since the announcement of the two crossover fighting games Street Fighter X Tekken and Tekken X Street Fighter back in 2010.

Katsuhiro Harada has come out today in a Twitlonger clarifying that the project is not "dead", however it is put on hold.

The rumor surfaced after a mistranslation subtitles had shown Harada saying that the project had died when instead he said "ima tomete masuyo", which means "it's pending state".

Further translations were wrong where the phrase "Okura-iri" was translated into project died, however, it means to be shelved or put in storage.

The character concepts were drawn up but because the project is now on hold we are unable to see them until a time where the project has resumed.

"We are still hopeful that TKxSF will resume development when the opportunity arises. However, such a title cannot be moved just for the convenience of one company in terms of marketing and branding, and it also affects each other's development resources.
For now, we are just waiting for the right opportunity." Harada Says.

Fans of the project may still hold out hope for the project to return, but after 10 years of waiting already it might be some time before we see the crossover release.

30% of the game was apparently completed, so there may be hope for the game to resume development.
