Ubisoft's Far Cry 6 is scheduled for release on all the consoles out in the market. However, the Nintendo Switch is the only exception for the release. When will we get this upcoming Far Cry entry on the Nintendo platform?
Not Lined Up
As seen on the official uPlay store, Far Cry 6 is only available to PlayStation 4, PlayStation 5, Xbox One, Xbox Series X, Xbox Series S and PC. All of these consoles will receive this upcoming title on October 10.
Meanwhile, the Nintendo Switch is the only odd console out on getting this AAA title on their platform. Potentially, Ubisoft could announce a Nintendo Switch release if they see some fan uproar to get the game on the Nintendo console.
Unusual On Nintendo Consoles
For almost a decade and a half, Nintendo has never received a Far Cry entry on its platforms. The last Far Cry titles on Nintendo was release around the middle of the 2000s namely Far Cry Instincts on the Nintendo Gamecube and Far Cry Vengeance on the Wii.
Ever since, Far Cry has yet to arrive on the Wii U up until Nintendo's current console. If Far Cry 6 ever gets released on the Nintendo Switch, it'll be a first in a long time.
Previously, Ubisoft has also ported some AAA titles to the Nintendo Switch such as Assassin's Creed Odyssey and Assassin's Creed IV Black Flag. However, the Nintendo Switch didn't get the entry after Odyssey which was Assassin's Creed Ragnarok.
On many counts, the Nintendo Switch was noted to have inferior hardware compared to its contemporaries in the console generation. This restriction makes it hard for some developers to work on the Switch to help the console run their game smoothly.
Unless Ubisoft is willing to put development for a Nintendo Switch version of Far Cry 6, we won't be seeing it on the console for a longer while.
