Far Cry 6 will have free upgrade paths for next-gen versions, Ubisoft announced on Twitter. The news comes after Sony backtracked on its original promise to offer a free Horizon: Forbidden West upgrade to PlayStation 5, then reverted to its original statement and said upgrade paths for other games won't be free in the future.
Those who buy Far Cry 6 on Xbox One will get the Xbox Series X|S version for free thanks to Smart Delivery. PlayStation 4 owners who purchase Far Cry 6 get a free download for the PS5 version.
While Ubisoft didn't announce it specifically, it looks as if the DLC will carry over if you buy any of the editions aside from the standard one.

That includes the expansion pass with Blood Dragon as well.
Meanwhile, if you can't wait that long for more Far Cry, Far Cry 3 is free on PC until September 10. All you need is a Ubisoft Connect account to claim it.
