Far Cry 6 has followed prior games in the series by allowing for multiplayer co-op play of the campaign. With two players taking on Anton Castillo's soldiers, you can both deal double the damage and do twice as much exploring. With Yara being Far Cry's largest map yet, there's plenty to do and a lot to explore, so it makes perfect sense that you recruit a friend for missions.

How to Unlock Multiplayer
Multiplayer will be unlocked after completing the second operation within Far Cry 6's main story, Du or Die, on Isla Santuario. You will encounter and complete this operation within the first hour or two of playing the game, so you don't need to worry about keeping anyone waiting!
Once you complete the operation, Juan Cortez awards you with your first Supremo backpack and the Tostador, which is essentially a flamethrower. These will be required for your next mission, so keep them on hand. As Juan gives you these items, you will also be notified that co-op is available for you to play.
How to Play Multiplayer
After being notified that you've unlocked co-op, you're free to invite your friends to play with you, or you can take part in matchmaking and fight alongside a random player.
To do this, open up your main menu and navigate to the top-right corner. There will be three co-op mode options:
- Play With A Friend: Choose someone from your friends list to play co-op with.
- Search For A Partner: Use public matchmaking to search for and invite a random player to your game.
- Be A Partner: Use public matchmaking to search for and find a random player's game to join.
It should be noted that Far Cry 6 only supports a maximum of two players and does not support split screen play.
Is Far Cry 6 Cross-Platform?
The short answer is no. Unfortunately, you will only be able to play with friends on the same platform as you. Although, Far Cry 6 does allow for cross-generation play. This means Xbox One players can play alongside their Xbox Series S/X friends, and PS4 players can play with PS5 players.
