Reports Suggest Microsoft's Fable Reboot Focuses On Single-Player, But Includes Online Co-Op

We've not heard much about the new Fable game. Set within a fantasy world, Microsoft's action-RPG franchise hasn't seen a main entry since 2010, though a Kinect spin-off and Xbox 360 remake were brought to us by Lionhead Studios in 2012 and 2014 respectively.

Announced at Microsoft's Games Showcase back in July, this reboot's being developed by Playground Games, better known for Forza Horizon. However, since that cinematic reveal, we've not seen anything else of this reboot, creating no end of gameplay speculation.

Reports Suggest Microsoft's Fable Reboot Focuses On Single-Player, But Includes Online Co-Op

A more popular rumour suggested that Fable would become an MMO, though that's being increasingly shot down. Speaking through the XboxEra forums, Xbox insider Nick 'Shpeshal Ed' Baker told fans he didn't believe these rumours are true, but stated it would have "some kind of online aspect".

Believing this will likely be co-op, similar reports appeared last year from Windows Central. At the time, it was claimed "There may be online elements like co-op functionality or limited, optional shared spaces. But nothing to the extent that would justify classifying the game as an MMO."

With Xbox confirmed to be appearing at E3 2021, we're hopeful that'll provide new information, and we'll keep you updated as it happens.
