This PS5 Feature Will Not Work At Launch

Sony has recently posted new news regarding the release of its next-generation console for later this year.

We now know more details about the PS5 and its capabilities with backwards compatibility and which controls we will be able to use with the console.

However, a new addition to their FAQ page has sparked some discussion among fans regarding a certain accessory you may have purchased recently.

Camera

In the updated PS5 support page which can be viewed here, Sony seems to confirm that the new PS5 camera will not support PS4 VR titles or "PSVR" for better terms.

The support page notes:

"The HD Camera is not compatible with PS4 games – please connect a PlayStation Camera via a PlayStation Camera adaptor.”

So, if you are looking to play current VR titles with the new and improved PS5 camera; it appears you are out of luck.

As of now, it appears you are stuck using the current camera, and it does not look like Sony will change this in the future.

More Details

The support page also noted some details on the games you will not be able to play on the PS5 that are currently released on the PS4.

These include:

  • DWVR
  • Afro Samurai 2 Revenge of Kuma Volume One

  • Just Deal With It!
  • Shadow Complex Remastered
  • Robinson: The Journey
  • We Sing

So, only a few select PS4 only games are not being supported on the PS5!
