PS5 Price: How Long Will We Have To Wait To Get A Price Announcement?

Slated for release towards the end of 2020, the PS5 and the Xbox Series X consoles will battle it out for console supremacy.

However, with only two months to go until the rumoured release date; we still do not know a price for the console!

So when do we think we will hear an official price announcement regarding the PS5? 

Let's take a closer look!

History 

Normally, we would be able to predict when we would hear an official price based on when previous Sony consoles got their announcement.

However, this is far from the case for the PS5 as below is when all previous Sony consoles released their price: 

• PS1 - 4 months before release
• PS2 - 5 months before release
• PS3 - 6 months before release
• PS4 - 5 months before release

With an average of around five months before the console released, it appears the PS5 is going to have the shortest span between announcement and release.

As with rumours circulating heavily in recent weeks that the console will release on November 13th, that leaves just over two months until launch. 

Price Rumors

Of course, with the release of any new console, there is going to be an ample amount of rumours in the leadup to it.

The price of the PS5 has been one of the most speculated aspects of the next-gen console wars. 

Jim Ryan who is the CEO and President of Sony had this to say regarding the price of the PS5 in an interview with GameIndustryBiz.com: 

"I think the best way that we can address this is by providing the best possible value proposition that we can. I don't necessarily mean lowest price. Value is a combination of many things. In our area it means games, it means number of games, depth of games, breadth of games, quality of games, price of games... all of these things and how they avail themselves of the feature set of the platform."

So with little details Jim Ryan, there is still a massive amount of speculation to discuss. 

Prediction 

As of now, it is hard to say what the price of the PS5 will be.

However, we can predict it will range from around $500-600 USD.
