OpTic Gaming Team Profile: Gears Pro Circuit London Open
The Gears Pro Circuit London Open is fast approaching, as thirty-two of the world’s best Gears of War teams prepare for battle at the UK’s finest dedicated eSports venue, the Gfinity Arena, from December 10th – 11th. Tickets are now available for purchase!
With the regional qualifiers now confirmed, we’re delighted to introduce OpTic Gaming as the first organisation to lock in their spot at the $100,000 event.
OpTic Gaming are one of the most storied and successful organisations within the North American eSports scene, having established themselves within the Call of Duty franchise in 2006.
Initially, OpTic’s aspirations were focused upon creating the world’s best Call of Duty sniping team, however, as time progressed and leadership roles altered, OpTic Gaming quickly expanded into the competitive and YouTube sphere, under the guidance of current CEO, Hector "HECZ" Rodriguez.
Since then, the OpTic Gaming brand has grown into one of the largest staples of the eSports and gaming community, with the organisation amassing over 1,000,000 personal YouTube subscribers, 2,000,000 Twitter followers, 30 tournament victories, the 2015 eSports Team of the Year Game Award, and four successful eSports teams; CoD, Halo, CS:GO and Gears of War.
Team Spotlight and Recent Performances
In August 2016, OpTic Gaming announced their official foray into the Gears of War scene, through the acquisition of the Enemy’s roster; Christopher “Lava” Anderson, Billy “MentaL” Putnam Jr, Gilbert “Xplosive” Rojo and Justin “Kenny Bounce” Kenny, as well as Alex “SuMuNs” Ascencion and Nick "Ashes" Ridgeway.
Since joining the Green Wall, OpTic Gaming’s Gears of War team have experienced immediate success. In their last three outings, OpTic have secured first place at the CS Gears of War 4: 5v5 Early Access, Gears of War 4 MLG Launch Invitational and MLG Columbus Open 2016, earning them $133,500.
As the event favourites, OpTic Gaming will be heading into the London Open with the intention of reiterating their role as the best team in Gears of War 4. However, as OpTic did not travel to the European Open earlier in the year, will the Green Wall be able to overcome their unknown European opponents? Only time will tell...
