Gfinity Arena Hosts its First Ever Touchscreen Tournament

Gfinity Arena hosts its first ever touchscreen tournament!

We are pleased to announce that Super Evil Megacorp, the developer of the leading touchscreen eSport, Vainglory, has selected Gfinity as the official host of the Vainglory European Winter Championships.

Taking place from 18th – 20th March 2016, the Gfinity Arena will welcome its first ever touchscreen tournament, “The Championship”, as mobile eSports continue to gain popularity across the globe.

Vainglory, a mobile multiplayer online battle arena (MOBA), pits two teams made up of three players against each other, as players control a single hero and work together to shatter their opponents giant crystal, the “Vain”, located in the centre of the enemy teams base.

Eight European finalists will compete in an intense three day tournament, as we search for the next Vainglory Champion. Three teams have already cemented their legacy in the $25,000 competition;

Team Secret

, the reigning Champions and winners of Autumn Season 2015;

Team SNOW

and

Team Rebellion

.

Neville Upton, Chief Executive Officer of Gfinity said: “We are delighted to be working with Super Evil Megacorp and hosting the finals of their winter championship. The success of Vainglory is evidence of increasing popularity of eSports amongst the touchscreen generation who want to compete against each other on games that combine team play with strategic thinking, skills and graphics previously seen only in PC games. This award is also further affirmation of the ability of Gfinity to deliver events across all platforms and of the Gfinity Arena’s status as a prime venue for delivery of such events. We look forward to delivering a successful competition.”

Kristian Segerstrale, COO and Executive Director at Super Evil Megacorp stated: “The Gfinity Arena is a fantastic venue and we’re very much looking forward to seeing our fans in London next month! Live competitions on touchscreen devices are still new, but whether viewers are attending in person or watching the stream from home, they’re able to connect with the players unlike ever before without the ‘wall’ of a PC in front of them.”
