Gears Pro Circuit Mexico City Open – Group C Preview

Gears Pro Circuit Mexico City Open – Group C Preview

The Gears Pro Circuit Mexico City Open is fast approaching, as the world’s most talented Gears of War teams prepare for battle at the Auditorio BlackBerry, Mexico City, from January 20th – 22nd. Tickets are now available for purchase!

As the Auditorio BlackBerry undergoes its final preparations ahead of the next stop in the $1million Gears of War Pro Circuit, I’m excited to share my preview of Group C, as Team EnVyUs, Epsilon eSports, and HeavenlyZ collide at the $100,000 USD event.

Throughout 2016, Team EnVyUs proved themselves as a powerhouse within the competitive Gears of War scene, securing championships at the ESL Pro League Season 2 and the Gfinity European Open.

However, since the launch of the Gears Pro Circuit, the Boys in Blue have experienced a slight dip in form, placing second at the MLG Columbus Open and fourth at the Gfinity London Open, following a 2-0 loss to Team Allegiance in the losers bracket.

Yet, despite their recent string of disappointing performances, I believe Team EnVyUs will be even more motivated to reiterate their role as one of the best teams in Gears at the Mexico City Open. As a result, I predict EnVyUs will dominate Group C.

As the clear underdogs of Group C, HeavenlyZ are a semi-professional Gears of War team representing the Latin American region.

Despite their lack of international reputation, the all-Mexican team have held their own against Splyce in the LATAM Gears Fight Night match-ups, so I expect them to put up a fierce fight in Mexico City.

Labelled as Europe's Finest, Epsilon are another top contender within Gears of War. In their last two events, MLG Columbus and Gfinity London, Epsilon have managed to consecutively place within the top eight teams. However, as they head into the Mexico City Open, will the European lads be able to break their top eight curse? I hope so.

Predictions

1st - Team EnVyUs 3-0

2nd - Epsilon eSports 2-1

3rd - HeavenlyZ 1-2

4th - Open Bracket Team 0-3

Although it's hard to predict who will come out on top of Group C, I think Team EnVyUs will reign victorious with the number one seed, while Epsilon eSports secure second. As much as I’d like to see the underdogs defeat the top teams, I can’t see HeavenlyZ taking out The Boys in Blue or Europe's Finest.

Who do you think will make it out the group? Let us know in the comments below!
