We are almost at the conclusion of Fortnite’s Season 9, and that means Fortnite Season 10 will begin before Fortnite's Season 11. With only so many days remaining of the extended season changes to the map and speculation of what in-game event might happen this time are taking full force. Epic Games opted to go with the futuristic theme for Season 9, which was a first for them, as we have seen a new theme every season; we expect Season 10 to be the same. Season 9 brought lots of great additions including '14 days of summer', new weapons like the drum shotgun and regular content updates - what can we expect for Fortnite Season 10?

Season 10 will begin after the Fortnite World Cup, they did this on purpose for professional players to not have to practice on an old season, right before the World Cup. With some hints already popping up across the map, what do we know so far?

When Is Season 10?

Season 9 started on the 9th May 2019 and is due to end shortly after the Fortnite World Cup - the Fortnite World Cup runs from the 26th-28th July.

With that in mind, we're almost certain to see Season 10 begin the week after. The date can't be tied down yet, however with this past season starting on the 9th May, we can assume it will release on the Thursday (1st August 2019). During Season 8, there was a massive ordeal made of the eggs nestled beneath Polar Peak and what their significance may be. Many assumed a dragon would appear and destroy most of the map, although that was not the case, we may get something similar soon.

Polar Peak has begun to melt, its main tower has been completely demolished leaving only a few segments standing. Remember, during the Season 8 in-game event, when one of the volcanic rocks hit the side of the iceberg Polar Peak is nestled atop of. Now, we have a massive eye peeking through the ice wall, we can assume there is a creature inside the iceberg and with it melting every patch more and more. Will the monster be out for Season 10?

Also, fans of Fortnite have claimed there is a monster going across the map and causing havoc on it. Fans on Reddit have claimed the monster is named “Cattus”, and recently in patch V9.30, there have been more points where the proclaimed monster has destroyed.

It seems as though the monster has made its way from Loot Lake all the way to Pleasant Park or vice versa; perhaps this creature originated in Haunted Hills, as it is the scariest point on the map.

There are two theories behind this. Some fans suggest that the monster underneath Polar Peak is causing this havoc on its own, all while having a castle nestled on its back still. Others have pointed out that there could be two monsters and one has escaped the vault during the un-vaulting event. Recently, the monsters have struck the power cord from Loot Lake to Neo Tilted, which essentially powers all the slipstreams and Neo Tilted.

With time counting down to the end of Season 9 and a lot more patches yet to come, could this monster be plotting to cut the power to Tilted and other locations? It is a very real possibility that could once again put Tilted out of business for a while.

Dark Themed Season

We have already seen an iteration of a darker season, during Fortnite Season 6 the whole theme was around the motto “Darkness Awaits”; this was furthermore centered around Loot Lake and “Kevin”. Now, with the havoc that the monsters are causing throughout the map, could there be another blackout coming to Fortnite?

If the monsters continue to chomp away at the power cord nestled next to Loot Lake, what would happen? We know that the two new points of interest on the map (Neo Tilted and Mega Mall) are fueled by the power line and depend on the electricity coming from Loot Lake; could this all shut down? It also seems as though the new slipstreams plotted across Fortnite’s map are also connected to this power source.

Perhaps if the monsters negate the power coming from Loot Lake, Fortnite will enter a blackout stage. All power throughout the map would be shut down and we would have none of these futuristic buildings anymore.

Leaked Posters

Over the last couple of weeks, Epic Games has embedded subtle clues throughout the Fortnite map to hint at what could be in store for Season 10. There have been multiple indications of a “monster” roaming the map, including the recent attempt at destroying the power cord nestled beside Loot Lake. There has also been a lot of speculation that Fortnite will be doing a crossover with the new Godzilla movie (Godzilla: King of the Monsters).

The potential cross over may make the most sense after all, as images of the monster’s foot tracks and the recent rampage are very Godzilla like. In the past, we have seen Fortnite collaborate with popular films such as John Wick 3 and The Avengers, which were both only implemented as Limited Time Modes (LTM) but we have never seen a full-on event in cooperated with a crossover.

With the potential rumors of a dark themed season in the works, from the new Shadow Legends Bundle to the signs of the power cord being ripped apart, there has yet again been another indication of this theme.

New posters have been leaked by Reddit user “Smithstirini“, the posters seem to be influenced by World War II propaganda. These contain wording such as “Take the High Ground” and “Duck and Hover”, there seems to be some connection between these posters and the Cattus event.

So what could a WW2 theme mean for Season 10? If there is some sort of war against the Cattus monster, which has also been linked to destroying the power cord, we may see a stealthier/darker theme. If the power connection is lost with the new Neo-Tilted and Mega Mall, could the monster destroy more of the map?
