Bandai Namco has announced that after a successful break-through season, Dragon Ball FighterZ is returning for its second World Tour.
When season one decended on Los Angeles at the start of 2019, Kazunoko took home the first place prize for the fast and frantic fighting game. With the announcement of season two, it will be time to do it all over again to find a champion for the 2019/20 season. Dragon Ball FighterZ has the priviledge of being based on one of the world's most recognised animes and continues to entice people almost a year and a half after it's launch.
What Is The Dragon Ball FighterZ World Tour?
The Dragon Ball FighterZ World Tour is a global tournament series that runs for 8-9 months, for the smash-hit fighting game by Bandai Namco Entertainment. During this time, players will rise through the ranks by competing through a series of ‘SAGA’ and ‘TENKAICHI’ events to earn points.
Dates & Events
There are three ‘SAGA’ events (down from seven) taking place at EVO 2019, DBFZ World Tour Red Bull Spain and DBFZ World Tour Red Bull Japan. Details are still yet to be confirmed regarding the ‘TENKAICHI’ events, however these tournaments will be offline with the first taking place at CEO 2019 in Florida.
The three winners from the ‘SAGA’ events are automatically sent to the Grand Final. Twelve additional spots are given to those with the highest total of points at the end of the tour. The final spot is given to the winner of the last chance qualifier, a day before the Grand Final in France.

The announcement is welcome news especially after the scare at the end of last year when major DBFZ tournaments were cancelled at events such as Dreamhack Atlanta and EVO Japan. There is still no reason why this happened, as none of the TO’s were allowed to speak publicly regarding the situation.
Katsuhiro Harada, who now leads BANDAI NAMCO’s new esports strategy team, had to come out to reaffirm their commitment to growing the competitive scene across all of their titles, including Dragon Ball FighterZ. With the creation of this new department, it looks like BANDAI NAMCO are heading in the right direction.
Tickets
Those in the UK interested in attending the Grand Final in France can compete in a series of open tournaments ran by Winner Stays On. Winners of these tournaments can earn a Eurostar ticket in order to attend the last chance qualifier if they don’t qualify outright.
