Cyberpunk 2077: How to Turn Off Copyrighted Music

Video games, in their push to feel more and more realistic, are always adding in subtle ways to link the real and virtual worlds.

As budgets have increased for the biggest titles, the prevalence of copyrighted music has also grown.

Though, as recent stories surrounding Twitch and YouTube DMCAs have shown, the existence of this music in games can cause content creators a lot of problems.

Thankfully, much like Fortnite and other hit games, Cyberpunk 2077 will let players toggle copyrighted music off and on.

If you want to turn off copyrighted music in Cyberpunk 2077, here is our guide!

We hope it helps!

How to Turn Off Copyrighted Music in Cyberpunk 2077

At the time of writing, we don’t know exactly where this toggle will be, only that it will be in the game’s settings, but based on games like Fortnite we can guess how it will work.

In Fortnite, the toggle is in the game’s Audio Settings.

It is likely that by heading to Cyberpunk’s Settings, Audio Settings and then finding the switch you’ll be able to toggle between including or not including copyrighted music.

You’ll also likely be able to turn all music off entirely, copyrighted or not, either by this toggle or an in-game audio mixer.

We’ll be sure to update this page when we know more!

Why Can You Turn Off Copyrighted Music in Cyberpunk 2077?

As mentioned above, it will be to help out Cyberpunk 2077 content creators.

In a blog post on their website, CD Projekt Red put out this statement, "Cyberpunk 2077 will feature a beautiful, robust original score created by our in-house composers.”

“In addition, you will be able to listen to over 150 songs created by wonderful artists representing diverse genres and we are confident you will love the music played by the in-game radio stations and in clubs. Unfortunately, the world of copyright law is complicated and not all of these songs can be streamed or used in your video content.”

Though, CD Projekt Red is taking their help a bit further by adding, “However, if you run into any problems of this nature despite having the toggle on, be sure to check with us at legal@cdprojektred.com. We will try our best to help you!”

This is really awesome to see from the developer so we hope more games include this feature in the future!
