Earlier today, the open beta and release dates for Blizzard’s upcoming team-based multiplayer shooter, Overwatch, were leaked online via an ad campaign running on IGN.

Reddit user Deadpoolthegreat shared the news on r/Overwatch, along with a screenshot, before the ad was removed. However, his job was already done, and news quickly circulated that Overwatch seemed to be scheduled for a full release on the 24/05/16, with an open beta launching earlier in the month, 03/05/16.

Since then, Blizzard have confirmed the leaked information, as they revealed the official launch details for Overwatch.

In addition to verifying the release dates of Overwatch, Jeff Kaplan, Game Director and Vice President at Blizzard Entertainment, also stated that preorder purchases of the game will include two early invitations to the Beta from May 3rd to May 4th. One for you and one for a friend.
