Tom Holland is putting on the red-and-blue spandex once more for Spider-Man: No Way Home. However, the Web-Slinger shared screens with another MCU actor Jon Bernthal, known for his work on The Punisher.

During promotional rounds for Spidey's third outing, Holland shared some stories while fighting spicy wings on First We Feast's Hot Ones. He revealed that the two actors co-starred in Pilgrimage, a 2017 film set during 13th century Ireland. Amidst the shoot, Bernathal provided some unconventional motivation.

Spider-Man slapped by The Punisher

To get into character, Spider-Man Star Tom Holland asked Bernthal to "rough" him up a little.

Sometimes as an actor if you're doing a scene that requires, like, real stress, I find it quite helpful if someone kind of roughs me up a little bit. And I said to Jon, I was like, 'Mate' -- this was right before the scene -- 'Could you just rough me up a bit, and, you know, just scare me a little bit, please?'

Even though he plays a rough killer, Bernthal was super apprehensive to strike the young actor at the time—or so it seemed.

And he was like, 'Nah, man, I don't wanna do that, like, you're my little brother, I love you, man, I don't wanna do that.

This ended up a ruse as Bernthal immediately whacked Holland, catching him off guard.

Okay, I appreciate that, if you don't want to do that, that's fine.' And I went, 'Right, we're rolling,' and they went 'Action!' and he went WHACK! And I was like, 'Oh, my God!' and it was great, and it worked so well for the scene. But he just -- he just didn't want me to know it was coming. But he properly cracked me one.

This isn't all that uncommon, as actors always ask co-stars for inspiration in weird and unusual ways. But the question is, will these two stars meet again in the MCU? Given that Kevin Feige confirmed Charlie Cox is the franchise's Daredevil moving forward, surely Frank Castle is returning too?
