Ever since Microsoft bought Bethesda, everyone has been wondering about the possible exclusivity of The Elder Scrolls 6. When Microsoft did their E3 conference a few weeks ago, many thought that this was the end of multiplatform Bethesda games. It seemed like Game Pass was the future, and Sony was being left behind.
The Telegraph finally asked Todd Howard the burning question: Is The Elder Scrolls 6 going to be an Xbox exclusive? Todd Howard's answer has given PlayStation owners a lot of hope.
Is The Elder Scrolls 6 going to be an Xbox Exclusive? Maybe not.
Would The Elder Scrolls 6 be a game for the PS5, or would it be exclusive to Xbox Series X, Xbox Series S, and PC? It's unclear what Bethesda or Xbox are planning. It still seems possible that the PS5 version of the game will follow Xbox's and Bethesda's previous comments about the game.
Our hope for the future is growing as more clues are being revealed. Sony PlayStation fans hope that Bethesda and the Xbox will release a PS5 version of the game in one form or another as long as Bethesda and the Xbox provide ambiguous updates and comments.
Todd Howard, director of Bethesda Game Studios, recently responded vaguely when asked whether or not he will regret not releasing new games to the PlayStation platform. Howard's response was fascinating in this regard. Here is his response to The Telegraph:
"Well, we're still…I will just say I want everybody to have the ability to play it in some fashion,"
The reply revived hope that The Elder Scrolls 6 may come to the PS5. The most likely thing Howard is talking about is the Xbox Game Pass and xCloud subscription here, but if that's what he means, he doesn't describe it at all. Just to remind some, there are rumors that Xbox has been in talks with Sony to put Game Pass on PlayStation.
Microsoft has even stated that they respectably no longer view Sony as a competitor because Sony is pursuing a different market. Xbox is going all in with Game Pass which is games as a service, but in a Netflix-style model. We will need to wait and see for more information on whether The Elder Scrolls 6 is coming to PlayStation 5.
