There are many bosses in Elden Ring, and many more enemies beyond that to challenge you, and sometimes, we all need a little help. With FromSoftware games being notorious for their difficulty, the Spirit Calling Bell is an item you probably want to get your hands on.

The Spirit Calling Bell is incredibly easy to miss, however, and fighting without the aid of allied spirits can make fights even more challenging than they already are. When you're getting started in Elden Ring, getting the Spectral Steed Whistle and Spirit Calling Bell are two items you might want to prioritise.

To get the Spirit Calling Bell, you'll need to meet with Renna the Witch... but where exactly can you find her, and when? In this guide, we explain how to find Renna the Witch and get the Spirit Calling Bell in Elden Ring.

How to Get the Spirit Calling Bell in Elden Ring

Summoning allied spirits to aid you with a fight can make all the difference between success and failure in Elden Ring. However, the Spirit Calling Bell is a surprisingly easy to miss item, and your game can feel much more difficult as a result of not having it to aid you.

To get the Spirit Calling Bell and some Lone Wolf Ashes, you'll need to find and speak with Renna the Witch. After entering Limgrave and meeting with merchant, Kale, in some ruins just past a Tree Sentinel, you can continue along the road through the forest until you reach a Site of Grace. Be careful of the Stormveil Soldiers patrolling the route, though.

At this Site of Grace, Melina will approach you and give you the Spectral Steed Whistle, so that you can summon your horse, Torrent. Now, you'll likely want to advance into Gatefront Ruins and collect the Map Fragment, and this is where the Spirit Calling Bell is easy to miss. Before advancing into the ruins, open your map and return to the Site of Grace at the Church of Elleh, where Kale is located. You'll notice a fog surrounding the ruins, and sat on a nearby wall is Renna the Witch.

Speak with Renna, and provided you have the Spectral Steed Whistle already, she will gift you the Spirit Calling Bell and some Lone Wolf Ashes. While within the range of any Rebirth Monument, you may use the Bell and Spirit Ashes to summon allied spirits to help you in a fight. They do cost FP to use, though, and can only be used in certain areas.

If you missed the chance to get the Spirit Calling Bell from Renna, considering she seems to stop turning up at the Church of Elleh after some in-game progress, the Bell can be bought elsewhere. Once you're in the Roundtable Hold after Melina provides you access, the Spirit Calling Bell and Lone Wolf Ashes can be bought from Twin Maiden Husks.

And that's how to get the Spirit Calling Bell! Good luck summoning lost souls to help you. For more on Elden Ring, check out how to face upcoming boss - Margit the Fell Omen - as well as our thoughts on the best Keepsakes in the game.
