Microsoft's slowly developing a reputation for revealing new games early. After telling us about Octopath Traveler's surprise Xbox One launch in March and giving early confirmation for Dragon Quest Builders 2 on Xbox, they've now lifted the lid on Dying Light: Platinum Edition.

Putting a listing on the Microsoft Store, that's due to launch later this week on May 27. So, what does this new edition actually contain? Well, from the description, this appears to the base game, the expansion - Dying Light: The Following - and all previously released DLC, such as new weapons.

As such, that's almost identical to the previous Anniversary Edition, raising questions about what purpose this new edition serves. There's every chance this could be a next-gen upgrade for Xbox Series X|S, and as a Microsoft listing, we've naturally got no idea about plans for any PlayStation editions.

It could be a way of tiding fans over as we wait for Dying Light 2, which was first announced back at E3 2018. After some development troubles led to the sequel being delayed without a new release date, we're hopeful Techland will give us an update soon.
