Everything we know about Dragon Ball Z: Kakarot's third and final DLC

Over a year has passed since the release of Dragon Ball Z: Kakarot by Bandai Namco. The game has received mostly positive reviews from both players and critics. The second Dragon Ball Z: Kakarot DLC expansion, released in November, revolves around players similarly facing Golden Frieza like in Resurrection F. Since then, fans have eagerly anticipated Dragon Ball Z: Kakarot's third DLC, expecting the story's next turn.

Many expected it to be about Goku Black and perhaps a teaser for the Tournament of Power. Fans were not given that timeline but instead received a highly favored story arc. Dragon Ball Z: Kakarot's third major DLC will focus on the timeline of Future Trunks.

'Tunks: The Warrior of Hope will be available in summer 2021, and here's what is known so far.

Dragon Ball Z's The History of Trunks special gets a DLC

Earlier this year, Bandai Namco announced the official name of Dragon Ball Z: Kakarot's third DLC, which is Trunks: The Warrior of Hope. Bandai Namco confirmed that the DLC will only retell the origin story of future trunks and that the expansion will not delve back into Dragon Ball Super territory. It was disappointing, but Future Trunks and his timeline is one of the most popular among fans.

While not playing in Goku Black's timeline may disappoint some fans, it is understandable since most DLCs were focused on Dragon Ball Super. Upon DLC 3's announcement, screenshots surfacing online revealed that the game's 'Future Gohan' would be very different from 'Adult Gohan', causing speculation that the same could also be true for the younger variant of Future Trunks.

Android 17 & 18 will be hunting players in this new DLC

Dragon Ball Z: Kakarot's third DLC was further revealed in a series of screenshots and leaks posted on Twitter. One screenshot showed Android 17 and 18 attacking Trunks, followed by a screenshot showing small drones attacking Trunks. According to the caption, if players fail to destroy the drones in time, they will sound an alarm that will summon Android 17 and 18 to fight against them.

During this timeline, Goku is dead, and Future Trunks and Gohan aren't powerful enough to defeat the androids. This is why the players should feel hunted and helpless, taking down the drones in time to avoid a direct showdown with the androids. This perfectly describes the situation in which Future Trunks and Gohan are in this timeline.

This is the final DLC for Dragon Ball Z: Kakarot

It's unclear when the third DLC for Dragon Ball Z: Kakarot will be released, but Bandai Namco promised it would be released in 2021. The company has now stated that the upcoming expansion will be the final for Dragon Ball Z: Kakarot. Bandai Namco stated this decision clearly in a tweet, saying, "Get ready to explore a dark future in Dragon Ball Z: Kakarot's final DLC."

Originally, players assumed that DLC 3 would be the last expansion for the first Season Pass. Bandai Namco clarified in the tweet that DLC 3 would be the last for the game, so there is no other story expansion ahead of Trunks: The Warrior of Hope.

Dragon Ball Z: Kakarot is available for PC, PS3, and Xbox One.
