After six days of top-tier DOTA 2 being played at The International(TI) 10, Team Spirit has emerged as the champion. On their run to becoming the undisputed champions of DOTA 2, Team Spirit took down an entire array of top-tier teams such as OG, Virtus.pro, Team Secret, and Invictus Gaming among others.

While many DOTA fans might not have expected Team Spirit to come out as the champions of the entire tournament, this band of players has managed to accomplish something that has immortalized their names in the history books of esports.

Given that the winning team will claim an amount of over $18 million, Team Spirit, who are yet to win a single Major in the sport, will definitely find their lives changed for the better. Having said that, let's dive in and take a look at Team Spirit's conquest to win The International 10.

The magic of The International 10

While other esports' like League of Legends and Call of Duty have managed to create a surreal hype for all its tournaments being held around the year, DOTA 2 has managed to preserve The International at a special spot.

Featuring the highest prize pool in all of esports, The International is truly a single tournament that can change the lives of five random players. Team Spirit's victory at TI10 is extremely similar to that story.

The lineup of Team Spirit comprised of four players who were attending the DOTA 2 championship for the first time while their captain, Yaroslav "Miposhka" Naidenov was the most experienced player on the roster, attending his second TI.

With that sort of an inexperienced line-up, not much was expected from Team Spirit. A finish anywhere in the Top 8 would have been a respectable performance from the roster. However, these five players had a very different plan.

Having dropped down from the upper-bracket in the first round, Team Spirit mounted a surreal charge through the lower-bracket to fix a match with Team Secret in the lower bracket final. In a tie that was pitted heavily against them, Team Spirit managed to shock all their doubters by defeating one of the tournament favorites, Team Secret.

Following this, the players faced the massive task of defeating the best performing DOTA 2 team in recent times and WePlay Animajor Champion, PSG.LGD in the grand finals. After going down by a 0-2 lead in the best-of-five series, PSG.LGD leaped back with two consecutive wins, threatening a reverse sweep to pick up the title.

However, Team Spirit drafted a line-up of comfort picks and slowly but certainly secured their grasp on not only the fifth game of the series but also the championship. This thrilling run from Team Spirit at TI10 is a blatant reminder to the entire DOTA 2 community that anything can happen when the TI lights turn on. Even the unlikeliest of competitors can end up lifting the title and surprising the entire community.
