The first day of the DOTA 2 ESL One Summer has officially begun which saw six action-packed matches featuring the first 10 out of the 12 teams participating in the tournament.

OG Vs AS Monaco Gambit

The first match saw the newly revamped OG from EU defeating AS Monaco Gambit from Russia in a clean 2-0 sweep. The much-anticipated return of OG’s Syed Sumail “SumaiL” Hassan did not disappoint as he led the charge for his team to dominate the whole series, advancing them later that night to face Russian team Virtus.pro in the second round of the upper bracket.

Alliance vs Team Unique

EU’s Alliance bested Team Unique from Russia in only two games. Game 1 lasted for 44 minutes while game 2 finished quicker in just 30 minutes of action. They went on to advance in the upper bracket second round to secure their match against SEA’s Team Secret.

Vikin.gg vs Team Nigma

Another 2-0 dominance was displayed last night after two teams from the EU battled it out. Vikin.gg defeated Team Nigma to set their bout in the second round of the upper bracket against SEA’s T1 who finished third in the recently held WePlay AniMajor.

Tundra Esports vs Team Liquid

Tundra Esports from EU scored a 2-0 series lead against another EU team in the form of Team Liquid. The former will then move on to face Quincy Crew from NA in the upper bracket round 2.

Virtus.pro vs OG

Following their victory earlier last night, OG advanced to the second round of the upper bracket to face Virtus.pro who is one of the top four teams who have the highest DPC points going to the tournament. But despite their momentum from their previous bout, OG failed to win a single game in the series, and Virtus.pro closed it out in only two games, making them the first team to advance in the upper bracket semi-finals.

Alliance vs Team Secret

The final match of the day saw another upper bracket second round bout featuring Alliance against Team Secret, where the former pummeled the latter in two games to secure their spot in the upper bracket semi-finals. Game 1 only lasted 34 minutes, while game 2 was stretched to 39 minutes.
